Take a Few Minutes for a Healthier You

Busy and stressed out? Join the club. Your schedule can make it challenging to eat healthy or exercise, let alone take the time to pamper yourself. Stress can also add unwanted padding to your waistline- stress hormones cause the body to store more fat. Want to minimize your stress and waistline? Here are some activities you can do to live a healthier, more balanced life.

Take a Walk

Going for a walk with a friend – whether on two legs or four – can work wonders for your state of mind while also burning calories.  A 130-pound person walking briskly or slowly uphill can burn 80 to 90 calories in 30 minutes. Walking is easy, low-impact and requires no special equipment. It can reduce belly fat and even lower your risk of heart-related conditions.

Find Your “Om”

Meditation can lower heart rate, reduce stress and boost immunity. Many people think they need special training to meditate – not true! Just sitting quietly for 10 to 15 minutes and focusing on your breathing counts as meditation. When thoughts rush in, let them pass and try to refocus on slow, deep breaths.  You may be surprised how relaxed you feel afterward. If you need a little help, try a meditation class or search online for guided meditations.

Stretch it Out

Even if you don’t have time to exercise, a few simple stretches daily can benefit your muscles – particularly if you sit for long periods for work. Focus on the large muscles of the body. One easy stretch that’s great for lower back pain is the pelvic lift. Lie on your back on the floor, feet flat on the ground. Then slowly lift your buttocks off the floor until your hips are in line with your knees, and come back to start. Search online or try a beginner’s yoga class to learn more basic stretching techniques.

Carve Out Me Time

Take a few minutes each week to do something just for yourself, whether a relaxing bubble bath, massage, reading a book or going to your favorite museum. It’s a great way to reset, reduce stress and get your mind off your to-do list.

Focusing on yourself can also mean making changes that make you feel better. If you’ve got an extra layer of fat around your midsection that won’t budge despite eating right and exercising regularly, SculpSure may be for you. SculpSure is the world’s first and only FDA-cleared laser treatment for non-surgical body contouring of the love handles and abdomen. It can treat those remaining trouble spots in just 25 minutes. Unlike invasive treatments, there is no downtime with SculpSure, and results are typically seen in six to 12 weeks.

There’s nothing wrong with putting yourself first once in a while. If you’re considering body contouring or other cosmetic procedures, be sure to get all the information you need to make the decision that’s best for you.
